This chalet structure along the western edge of the US40 corridor in Winter Park was known for years as a German-style family restaurant and ski-town hotel / lodge. Once under new ownership, the 16 guest rooms at the second level each received a facelift, with modernized bathrooms and fresh finishes and colors. The existing restaurant was transformed in name and aesthetic – becoming Tuscan-inspired Volario’s Restaurant with an open kitchen, characterized by a Mediterranean color and finish palette along with shining stainless steel appliances – all visible from a newly appointed and generous dining area. Inspired by these changes, an adjacent ski and bicycle retail space was purchased by the Owner and converted into an upscale coffee and espresso shop, serving handcrafted Italian sandwiches, pastries and light fare to locals and ski resort clientele, or Tiramisu and Prosecco to guests of Volario’s who wanted a leisurely dessert to cap off their evening.
